"In this book, I described the changes in my own life, the community life I was born into, how we lived our lives thirty to forty-fifty years ago in a given part of the world for us, and how I got out of that world. I described the way I went through my life and the changes in my own world, and I commented on what I described in Anthony Burgess's novel about the twentieth century, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Isle of Capri), the term "Isle of You."
