Sándor Márai

Sándor Márai / 1900-1989 / was one of the most significant and popular prose writers of the 20th century. He was forced abroad twice in his vomiting life, spent most of his life in Europe and the United States, but he declared himself Hungarian throughout, and as one of the great artists of our language, he wrote his works of various genres in Hungarian. Today, his novels have been translated into almost every world language and are generally regarded as the aftermath of European citizenship and tradition. This monograph explores the fullness of life and work known today, also taking a look at the writer’s extremely original thinking and literary principles.
