Description
The author of the studies published in the volume The Subsequent Fate and Continuity of Roman (Civil) Law from a Historical-Comparative Perspective began to teach Roman law, legal history and comparative private law in English for foreign students several years ago. The rich experience of teaching the above mentioned courses in English persuaded the author that there is an utmost necessity to compile a collection of reading materials for these students. The students coming from several states both from European and extra-European countries in order to study law in Hungary have different knowledge and learning experience of Roman law and legal history. Therefore it is a difficult task to provide an appropriate learning material for the students participating in those courses.
Taking into consideration the foregoing the author attempted to gather several articles and studies of his, which might be able to provide help to the foreign students to understand and to learn some fundamental elements of the subsequent fate of Roman law and the historical development of private law. The first edition of this compendium was published in 2007. This second, revised and enlarged edition is based upon the experience of the past years. This edition is aimed to meet the demands of the students participating in the courses.
